Vito Scafiezzo

Vito Scafiezzo, beloved husband, father, Nonno, and friend, passed away peacefully on the morning of April 21st, 2025, at the age of 75, surrounded by those who loved him deeply.

Vito was born on October 10th, 1949, in Balvano, in the province of Potenza, Italy. At the age of 6, he moved with his family to Uruguay, where he spent his formative years. On February 14th, 1977, he began a new chapter in the United States, where he built a life rooted in love, family, and hard work.

Vito lived with quiet strength, humility, and an enduring dedication to those he cared for. He was known for his warm, infectious smile-always accompanied by a twinkle in his eye-and his presence had a way of brightening every room.

His greatest passion was soccer. Whether playing the game himself or cheering on teams from Italy, Uruguay, or the U.S. Men's National Team, the sport was woven into the fabric of his life. It brought him joy, connection, and countless cherished memories.

Vito was deeply loved by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He leaves behind his devoted wife of 47 years, Teresa Scafiezzo; his children, Paola (Pablo), Nick (Alicia), and Mike (Meredith) Scafiezzo; and his seven beloved grandchildren: Vincent, Lia, Gino, Nico, Valentina, Ary, and Alan.

He was preceded in death by his brothers Francisco and Blas, and is survived by his siblings Domenico, Roque, Jose, and Gerardina.

Vito's legacy is one of kindness, strength, laughter, and love-a legacy that lives on in his family and all who carry his memory in their hearts.

Funeral will commence on Friday, April, 25, 2025, 9:15 AM at the Vandenberg Funeral Home, 17248 Harlem Avenue Tinley Park, IL. to St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church for Mass of Christian Burial, 10:00 AM. Entombment to follow in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Visitation, Thursday, 3:00-8:00 PM at Vandenberg Funeral Home - Tinley Park.
