Dr. Vita Meyer nee Pignatiello, late of Tinley Park, IL, and Naples, Florida. Beloved wife of the late Jerry Meyer, Loving mother of Brad (Patti) Meyer, Caring and Cherished grandmother of Sydney, Claire & Tara. Dear sister to Victor (Terri) Pignatiello, sister in law to Jim Meyer, Bob (Eunice) Meyer, Bill Meyer, Jon (Cindy) Meyer, aunt of Jonathan (Karen), Tim (Jackie), Eric (Christina), Bryan, and Joseph (Leah) Meyer, Bret (Laura) Pignatiello & Geoffrey (Lindsey) Pignatiello, and many more great nieces and nephews. Vita grew-up in Oak Forest, Il, retired after almost 50 years in education (primarily in District 228 in the South Suburbs of Chicago) as a teacher, administrator, Principal of Bremen High School & ultimately retired from Governors State University as an education mentor. Vita fought her whole life for strong women (& men) in education, community & faith. She held the Cross & her unbelievable faith before her in every battle of her life. There was no fear as she entered heaven to rejoin her beloved husband, Jerry Meyer. Two people that gave everything to their Lord, family, friends and community. A true Christian & mentor to many thousands. Vita will be truly missed by all those that knew her.
Visitation, April 22, 2021, Thursday 3:00-8:00 PM, at the Vandenberg Funeral Home, 17248 Harlem Avenue, Tinley Park, IL. 60477. Funeral Service, Friday April 23, 2021, 10:00 AM at Zion Lutheran Church, 17100 69th Ave, Tinley Park, IL 60477. Interment will follow in Chapel Hills Garden South Cemetery. Attendance at Zion Lutheran Church will be limited to less than 75 individuals to stay in compliance with Church COVID policies.
