Virginia Jean Jecha, age 94, late of Mokena, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, who peacefully journeyed to her eternal rest on September 27, 2023 at her home surrounded by family in Mokena, Illinois.
Virginia was born on January 8, 1929, in Omaha, Nebraska, to her loving parents Joseph and Frances Murphy. She dedicated her life to her family, always putting their needs above her own. Beloved wife of the late Edward Jecha Jr, loving mother of the Thomas ( Linda), the late Lawrence (Marcella), James, John, and Jean Jecha. Proud and caring grandmother of Michelle, James, Theresa, Pamela, Stephanie, Victor, Dennis, and great grandmother of numerous grandkids.
Virginia was a parishioner of St. Mary Catholic Church, taught Religious Education, Past President and member of the Catholic Council of Women, 1985 Women of the Year recipient, member of the St. Mary's Young at Heart and Altar & Rosary Society. In her leisure she enjoyed playing Bunko with her friends from the neighborhood. Virginia was an avid crossword and sudoku puzzle warrior. Virginia spent many years as a Den Leader for Cub Scouts.
She was loved by many people throughout her life, specifically remembered by friends as "being a faithful and wonderful friend" and " her intelligence, kindness, and no nonsense kind of approach" she will missed !
Funeral services to honor Virginia's life will be held Wednesday, October 4, 2023, Visitation, 3:00-8:00 PM at Vandenberg Funeral Home, 19604 S. Wolf Road, Mokena, IL. 60448. Funeral, Thursday, 9:30 AM at the Funeral Home to St. Mary Church, Mass of Christian Burial 10:00 AM. Interment to follow in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.
