Thomas Kruger, age 90, beloved family member of Bethshan Association and longtime partner of the late Evelyn Pesek. Thomas was born on the south side of Chicago, passed away Friday morning in the presence of his Bethshan family while praying Our Father. He moved to Bethshan in 1997 where he met Evelyn Pesek, his longtime partner, and he was her little paczki. They appreciated polka together before she passed. He is also preceded in death by his former roommate, Tim Engbers, to whom he was very close, and watched over, like a brother.
Tom became the elder stateman of Bethshan at 90 years old. In the last years of his life he had many dreams come true including leading the Sandburg High School marching band. Tom diligently worked on art each day, cultivating his craft and creating beautiful works. Tom’s art adorns the walls at Bethshan and most are signed as “The World’s Most Famous Artist Thomas Kruger.” He was also a gifted horticulturist.
Tom was a devoted Catholic. He attended mass at Incarnation Catholic Church since 1997. This was an anchor in his life and he was dedicated to each practice of the faith. His funeral mass will be at Incarnation Catholic Church Friday, August 16 at 9:30 AM. Interment following at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
