Thomas J. Goebig

Thomas "Tom" John Goebig, age 65, late of Chicago, IL, passed away peacefully on November 1, 2023 at his home.

Tom is survived by his daughter Rebecca (Jason) Gofron; son Thomas (LeAnn) Goebig Jr; cherished grandchildren Luca Gallo and Audrey, Julia, and Dylan Gofron; brothers and sisters Linda (Mike) Boyd, Roy (Carol) Goebig, Thomas "Zeke" Zitko, David Goebig, Debbie (Rob) Pawluk, and Michael (Caitlin) Goebig. Preceded in death by his beloved parents Roy and Dorothy Goebig and siblings Charlie, Gary, and Beth. Fond uncle of many nieces and nephews and a cherished friend to all.

Tom was born in Chicago, IL on October 26, 1958. He moved to Mokena, IL at the age of 10 and graduated from Lincoln-Way High School in New Lenox, IL in 1976. He was a friend to everyone he met, whether it was at work, a concert, a tavern, or in his travels. Tom started his career as a welder and eventually began a small, highly respected HVAC company known for quality craftsmanship. He took great pride in his 40+ year mechanical career; many of his projects have been in place for decades and will continue for years to come. Tom’s mechanical expertise was admired by many, and he shared his knowledge with young contractors, family, and friends throughout his lifetime. Tom was a generous person, known for lending a helping hand to anyone in need. He was happiest when spending time with his family and friends at family gatherings, sporting events, camping at Woodhaven, and on trips throughout the US and Europe. He was an avid Chicago sports fan, attending numerous Chicago White Sox games and religiously watching every Chicago Bears game. Music was the soundtrack to Tom’s life as he attended countless concerts, music festivals, and owned an incredible catalog of music. Over the last several years, Tom was devoted to restoring vintage stereo equipment and sharing his love of music with his beloved grandchildren.

Visitation, Tuesday, November 7, 2023, from 3:00 p.m. until time of Funeral Service at 7:00 p.m at Vandenberg Funeral Home, 19604 S. Wolf Rd. Mokena, IL 60448. Interment will be Private.
