Ted Cockrell, age 78, of New Lenox passed away November 4, 2023. US Marine Veteran. Beloved husband of Donna (nee Poutry) Cockrell; loving father of Donald (Elizabeth) Cockrell, Steven (Meredith) Cockrell, and Amanda (Rudy) Cockrell-Tapalla; proud grandfather of Kyle Cockrell, Christopher Cockrell, Logan Cockrell, Delaney Cockrell, Jackson Tapalla, Kailey Tapalla, and Nathan Tapalla; devoted son of the late Earl Cockrell and the late Helen Reasons; caring brother of Dee (the late Tom) Weddington, Paul (Karen) Cockrell, Ronald (Sharon) Cockrell, Carroll (Flo) Cockrell, the late Bettye (the late Gene) Retzlaff, the late Willetta (the late Ron) Nabors, the late Robert (Linda) Cockrell, the late William (the late Bonnie) Cockrell, and the late Mary (Casey) Cetnar.
Ted loved the outdoors, woodworking, and his grandchildren. He was always up for an adventure, whether it was fishing, shooting, or traveling. He was also a skilled craftsman who enjoyed working with wood. But above all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, Wounded Warriors, Welcome Home, or a charitable organization of your choice. Visitation Wednesday November 8, 2023, from 2 – 8 PM at Vandenberg Funeral Home 19604 Wolf Rd, Mokena, IL 60448. Funeral Thursday 10:15 AM prayers at the funeral home going to St. Anthony Church for 11 AM Funeral Mass.
