Steven E. Carey

Steven Emory Carey, late of Mokena, IL. Born December 20, 1951 in Chicago, IL. to his parents the late Charles and Agnes Carey. Beloved husband of 46 years to Margretel Anne Carey. Loving father of Jonathan Jordan and the late David Scott Carey. Dear brother of Dennis, the late Michael, Douglas, Charles, Kathleen, James, and Daniel. Steve worked at O'Connor Chevy, Bauer Buick, Rogers Pontiac, Bert Adams Pontiac as an Auto Mechanic Local 701 until his retirement thirteen years ago. Because of Steve's work ethic and desire to work hard he continued working, this time at Stagg High School in GCA services department, he retired from there in December 2019. Steve loved his family, he loved helping people with auto issues, he was passionate with supporting the less fortunate. His passion for helping people lead him to helping victims of Hurricane Katrina in Tuscaloosa, AL, he went on multiple mission trips to Mexico, where he built housing for those in need. Steve enjoyed multiple motorcycle trips with friends through the mountains of Colorado. His desire to help people and his love for neighbors will not be forgotten. The world lost a special person on February 24, 2020, It is up to his family and friends to carry on Steve's legacy.
A memorial visitation will be held Sunday, March 1, 2020, at the Vandenberg Funeral Home, 19604 S. Wolf Road, Mokena, IL. from 12:30 - 3:30 PM at the funeral home. A Celebration of Life ceremony will immediately follow at 3:45PM at Grace Fellowship Church, 11049 W La Porte Rd, Mokena, IL 60448. Rev. Rick Tustin will officiate.
