Robert L Van Luik,”Popsy” 94 of Chicago and Tinley Park, Illinois passed away peacefully on June 25,2020 at Clarendale of Mokena. He is survived by his daughters Nora(Daniel)Fling, Janice(Michael)White, Nancy Van Luik and nephew Frank (Tracie)Vrlich who was like a son. His memory will be cherished by his grandchildren, Kimberly(Chip)Kahsen, Mark(Liana De Angelo)White, Kira Fling and by his great-grandchildren Gwendolyn and Lucas Kahsen and Rocky White, and nephews Gregory, Mark, Jeffery, and Craig Lindsey and their families. He is preceded in death by the love of his life of 69 years Helen (Novak), parents Adolph and Myrtle Van Luik, sister and brother-in-law Virginia and Robert Lindsey. Bob worked for US Steel from the age of 16 until his retirement at the age of 55. After graduating he joined the United States Army Air Corps from 1944 - 1946. Bob served his community as an active member of the East Side Lions as an officer and as president. He and Helen developed many friendships with dear friends through the years while on the East Side and at the lake house. He enjoyed spending his free time golfing, fishing and working on crossword puzzles. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and friend and will be greatly missed by all. He will be laid to rest with his loving wife Helen.
