Rita M. Patterson

Our Loving Mother, Rita M. Patterson (nee Ward), age 95, late of New Lenox, IL, passed away October 19, 2023. Rita loved her family dearly and was an excellent homemaker. Her greatest joy was watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow.

Rita was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Joliet, IL and St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Mokena, IL. Rita was a department manager at Grants Department Store in Joliet, IL was a Cubs Scout Den Mother, managed the Ben Franklin Dime Store in Midlothian, IL and belonged to the Mokena Homemakers Women’s Organization.

Dear daughter of the late Edward and Theresa Ward, Beloved wife of the late Norman W. Patterson. Loving mother of Ray (Peggy) Patterson, Bill (Denise) Patterson, John (Pam) Patterson, Norman Patterson, Edward Patterson (Deceased in Infancy), Paul Patterson, and Kay (Tom) Ducett.

Loving grandmother of Sarah (Kyle) Robbins, Scott Patterson, Neal Patterson, Stacy (Cory) Dillard, Steven Patterson, and Laura Patterson.

Cherished great-grandmother of Cadence, Chip, Collins, Elijah, Cooper, and Levi.

Preceded in death by brothers, Harold (Irene) Ward, Lloyd (Theresa) Ward; Sisters, Winnifred Decman (Martin), Lorraine (Jack) Papesh, Bernadine (John) Ukovich, Verna (George) Papesh .

Survived by sister, Eunice Ward.

Rita treasured her many nieces, nephews, and friends she touched over the years.

Visitation, Monday, October 23, 2023, from 9:00 a.m. until time of Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. at Vandenberg Funeral Home, 19604 Wolf Rd. Mokena, IL 60448. Interment will follow at St. Mary Cemetery in Mokena, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The American Heart Association.
