Matthew Ryan Carter
June 28, 1994 - April 4, 2025
With heavy hearts and deep sorrow, we share the passing of Matthew Ryan Carter, who left this world on April 4, 2025, in Manteno, Illinois, at the age of 30. Born on June 28, 1994, to Donna and Ronald Carter, Matt grew up in Tinley Park, where he made lifelong memories and friendships on the baseball and football fields playing for the Bobcats and Bulldogs.

A 2012 graduate of Victor J. Andrew High School, Matt was known for his strong work ethic and hands-on talents. He began working as a mechanic alongside his dad at just 15, finding pride in his work and joy in fixing things for others. In 2015, he made his home in Monee, where he continued building a life grounded in determination and independence.

Matthew had a kind and loving and soul. He faced the challenges of life-including mental illness and addiction-with courage and resilience. Though the battle was long and heavy, Matt never lost his humor or his kindness. He was goofy and funny, always bringing a smile to others, but he also carried a quiet respect and gentleness that left a mark on all who knew him.

He loved his dogs, Daisy and Missy, who were his faithful companions through every season of life. Matt is survived by his loving parents, Ronald Carter and Donna Carter, and his grandfather, Rex Plattner; his aunts Brenda Tadlock and Cathy (Rory) Miura, as well as cousins Michael (Gabby) Agent and their children Emma, Claire, and Parker, Nick Tadlock, Dana Miura, and Ryan Miura.

He is reunited in peace with his grandparents Darlene and Billy Wayne Carter, and Patricia Plattner, and Uncle Billy Joe Carter who welcomed him home with open arms.

Matthew's journey was not defined by the struggles he faced, but by the love he gave, the laughter he shared, and the quiet strength he carried. His family finds peace in the belief that God, in His mercy, saw Matthew's weariness and offered him rest.
Thank you, Lord, for seeing how weary I am, and letting me rest. The pain is gone; the peace is beautiful. Your love surrounds me. I have fought the good fight, and somehow now at this stage, no matter what the outcome, I feel I have won.

In honor of Matt's life, the family asks that you hug your loved ones a little tighter, speak openly about mental health, and be kind-because you never know the battles someone may be facing. In lieu of flowers please donate to a charity of your choice.

Rest easy, Matthew. You are loved beyond measure and missed beyond words.

Come join us on Sunday April 13th at the Vandenberg Funeral Home in Tinley Park from 1 PM until the service at 3 PM to celebrate Matt's life.
