Budzyn, “Pat”
Marian Patricia Budzyn (nee Fischer), age 67, resident of Mokena, Illinois, passed away suddenly on January 25th, 2023.
Pat is the loving and cherished wife of Joseph E., mother of Tricia M. (Tony) Stier and USAF Lt. Col Joseph A. (Diane) Budzyn, and the grandmother to Sadie M. (7) and Camden A. (4) Stier, and Alexander J. (11), Amelia F. (9), Aiden T. (8), and Archer J. (5) Budzyn.
Pat is the daughter of the late Melvin and Marlene (Bauer) Fischer of Mauston, WI. Sister of Mary (Harry) Kozak, Melvin Fischer, and Monica (Dennis) Krejci. She is the aunt of Christopher (Rhonda) Kozak, Timothy (Amy) Kozak, Stacey (Steve) Davis, and Melissa Ackley, Nicholas, Christina, Mallory, and Madelynn Fischer. She is the great aunt to Madison and Christopher Kozak, Caitlin Kozak, USAF Airmen First Class Lainey, Carter, and Chase Button, and Wyatt and Virgil Ackley. She was also “Aunt Pat” to many many more. She enjoyed the company of others and had many friends, including the ladies of her pickleball group.
She was the best wife and truly Joe’s “better half.” Pat’s family was most important to her, and her grandchildren were her pride and joy and top priority. She was a reader, creative, loved to sew and craft, and garden. She could not wait to plant her cucumbers, tomatoes, and zucchini each spring. Pat was very faithful and an active parishioner and a former school board member of St. Mary, Mokena. Pat attended Jones Commercial high school, began her work life as a legal secretary in downtown Chicago, and retired as the Executive Assistant for the Franciscan Sisters of Chicago, Lemont, IL.
Visitation will be Monday, January 30th, at Vandenburg Funeral Home, Mokena, IL. The Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, January 31st, at St. Mary Church, Mokena, IL. Interment at Good Shepherd Catholic Cemetery, Orland Park, IL. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Pat’s name can be made to the charity of your choice.
