Marcia F. Stachyra, aged 78, died on March 29, 2021. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gladys and Eugene Stachyra, and her brother Eugene Stachyra Jr. She is survived by her siblings Carol Stachyra Scherrer (James), Frank Stachyra (Ann Ogryzek), and Joy Stachyra La Pointe (Jack), 15 loving nieces and nephews, and numerous great-nieces and nephews. Born in Chicago, Marcia was an intelligent and excellent student. She received her PhD in psychology from Columbia University, graduated Summa Cum Laude from Loyola University of Chicago, and was valedictorian of her class at St. Willibrord High School. Marcia taught at Rutgers University and served for many years as a therapist at Kings County Hospital in Brooklyn, New York. A consummate New Yorker for over 40 years, Marcia enjoyed the opera and performances at The Lincoln Center around the block from her Manhattan home, and loved spending time in nearby Central Park. A generous and glamorous aunt, she delighted her nieces and nephews with unique gifts and trips to skiing adventures. She will be sorely missed.
Visitation Thursday, April 1, 2021, 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Vandenberg Funeral Home, 17248 Harlem Avenue Tinley Park, IL. 60477. Interment to follow in Holy Cross Cemetery.
