Lois M. Mangan

April 21, 1928 — June 15, 2018

Lois M. Mangan (nee Beeson), age 90, of Joliet IL, passed peacefully at Spring Creek Nursing & Rehabilitation Center on Friday, June 15, 2018. She was born on April 21, 1928 to the late Marguerite and Herbert Beeson in Oak Park, IL. Lois resided in Mokena, IL until 1972 when she moved to Merritt Island, FL. She spent many years working at Cape Canaveral Hospital as a switchboard operator where she then later retired from. After the passing of her beloved husband, she moved back to the south suburbs of Illinois.

Loving grandmother of Gregory Mangan Jr, Brian Mangan, Jennifer (Nezar) Kassem, Stephen (Erin) Papke, Denise Papke, Douglas (Jennifer) Mangan, Jason Mangan, Bradley (Justin) Smith, and Kenneth Mangan.

Proud great-grandmother of Chase Mangan, Amanda Mangan, Zoe Mangan, Kellen Mangan, Emma Kassem and Andrew Kassem.

Great-great-grandmother of Willow Isadora

Loving Aunt of Lorraine (Sam) Mormino, Charlene (John) Flynn, and Michael (Mary) Ward.

She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph J. Mangan, father Herbert Beeson, mother Marguerite Beeson, brother Gregory Beeson, twin sister Viola Ward, grandson Larry “Smitty” Smith, grandson Robert Mangan, great-grandson Joseph Mangan and great grand-daughter Catherine Mangan.

Lois had an incredible sense of humor and was loved by so many people. Her parents were performers in the Barnum & Bailey Circus in the 1920s and 1930s and always had so many wonderful stories to share from her childhood. Lois enjoyed collecting owls, doing word search puzzle books in record time and going to the casino. She was an avid fan of the Chicago White Sox and loved listening to Frank Sinatra.

Lois’ family would like to thank the nurses, CNAs and entire staff at Spring Creek Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Joliet as well as Joliet Area Hospice for all of their support and loving care.

Arrangements made by Vandenberg Funeral Home and private services will be held for the family in Cape Canaveral, Florida.
