Kathleen R. Lopez-Gilmore "Kate"

Kathleen R. Lopez-Gilmore nee Busbey, 56, of New Lenox, at home on October 27th. Born October 30, 1958 in Joliet. Graduated from Joliet East H.S. in 1976, Joliet Junior College in 1996, University of St. Francis BSW 1999 and Aurora University MSW 2001. Employed at Guardian Angel Home and Catholic Charities, moving to Joliet Junior College Project Achieve, her career ending as a School Social Worker at Joliet Central Alternate High School in 2011. Ms. Lopez was enthusiastic and a powerful advocate for the children and parents in her care and spent time and energy in being the type of individual that could make an impact in the school and home environment.
Survived by her husband Lynn R. Gilmore, children Elizabeth (Lucas) McDonald and Andrew (fiancée Kade) Lopez, step-children Carl F. (Jennifer) Gilmore and Lisa (Dina) Gilmore, grandsons Benjamin, Jonathan and Nicholas Gilmore, Jacob McDonald, Kane Gossett and coming soon, Blake Lopez, granddaughter Almunique Indigo. Mother Beverly and step-father James Busbey, brothers Richard and Charles (Elene) Busbey, along with numerous nieces and nephews and best friend and “Sister” Angie. Preceded in death by her father, Wayne Busbey, and her brother John Busbey. Visitation to be held at Vandenberg Funeral Home 19604 S. Wolf Road Mokena, IL. 60448 on Sunday November 1, 2015 from 2-7 PM. Funeral services Monday November 2, 2015 at Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church 10731 LaPorte Road in Mokena, IL. 60448 at 11:00 AM with visitation from 10:00 AM until time of service. In lieu of flowers, donations to Morning Star Mission, Northern Illinois Food Bank or the Charity of your choice would be preferred.
