Joseph F. O'Reilly , Jr.

Rev. Joseph F. O’Reilly, 93, died April 5, 2016 at Holy Family Villa in Palos Park, IL. Ordained in 1949, he was the oldest priest in the Springfield, IL diocese where he served in many communities until his retirement in 1992. He was a ham radio operator (W9UFL) for many years and a member of the Jacksonville, IL Radio Club. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Frances (Reiss) O’Reilly and his sister Margaret M. (the late Clifford) Eby. Caring brother of John H. (Rosemary) O’Reilly. Fond uncle of 11 nieces and nephews. Visitation Sunday, April 10, 2016 from 2-7 PM at Vandenberg Funeral Home, 19604 S. Wolf Road, Mokena, IL 60448. Fr. O’Reilly will be lying in state Monday, April 11, 2016 from 9:00 AM until time of Mass 10:00 AM at St. Mary Church, 19515 S. 115th Street, Mokena. Interment at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Hillside, IL.
