Jeanette Mau, nee Berry, aged 93, late of New Lenox, Illinois,
passed away on May 26, 2023 surrounded by loved ones. Loving mother of Jim
(Carol) Mau, Nancy (Chuck) Pawluk, and Chris (Jim) Malec. Cherished
grandmother of Laura (Corey), Tracy (Ben), Chelsea (Corey), Gabby and
Kamryn. Great-grandmother to Rowan and Quinn.
Jeanette was born to Oscar and Myrle Berry in 1929 in Neenah, Wisconsin.
She grew up on a dairy farm in Amherst and relocated to Chicago when she
married in 1948. Jeanette and Richard built a home and raised their children
in Burbank. She eventually moved to Frankfort in later years to be closer to
her daughters. She had a passion for travel and gardening and loved
spending time with her grandchildren. Although she was an only child, she
was always close with her 10 aunts and uncles and stayed in touch with her
cousins and her childhood friends back home. She appreciated good, but not
fancy, food and was known for her rotisserie chicken and some think she is
the pioneer of iced coffee. She worked for several banks in the south-suburbs
and was proud of achieving the title Vice President and Branch Manager.
Jeanette loved to laugh, easily made friends and was active in many senior
groups the past 20 years and will be missed. A memorial service will be held
in her hometown at a later date. As an expression of sympathy, please consider a contribution to the Alzheimer Association (
