Gilbert Roll JR, long time resident of Blue Island, IL passed away at home on October 3rd. Loving husband for over 63 years to Jean nee Erickson. Brother to Joan (Frank Grobner). Devoted father of Stephan (Mary Rose), Brian (Mary Kay), Karen Stump (Rick deceased), Gregory (Pam), and George (Paula deceased). Grandfather of 11 and Great Grandfather of 9. Gilbert and his ancestors are a part of Blue Island history; owning and operating George J. Roll & Sons. Entering their 128th year of business, Gil dedicated 60 years of work to its success. The business has thrived since 1888 in the same location and has been an integral part of BI and its business industry. Gilbert left his family and friends with a profound sense of hard work, good ethics, strong faith and values. He battled Parkinson’s for 30 years, was a veteran, lover of blues, sports and the great outdoors. Gil will be greatly missed. Go Cubs!
