Geraldine (Jerry) Menclewicz (nee: Kamraczewski)
We mourn the loss of our 93 years young beloved family matriarch – Geraldine (Jerry) Menclewicz (nee: Kamraczewski).
Jerry left her physical existence early Wednesday, November 4, 2020. She passed peacefully in her Mokena bedroom
with her husband of 65 years, Robert, by her side.
Jerry was born in Chicago, preceded in death by her parents Edward & Beatrice, and her two younger sisters Nancy &
Delores. The three sisters attended Aquinas, an all-girls high school on the south side of Chicago. Jerry then went on to
a long career at Illinois Bell Telephone (which later became AT&T) where she rose through positions to become one of
their first female engineers in a male-dominated field.
Jerry was a world traveler over the last 50 years having visited five of the seven continents. She would share her diverse
experiences and cultural lessons learned through photography and tales that would grab and hold on to you. From
Russia, China, Panama, Turkey, Greece, Italy, Spain, Poland, Egypt, & Africa to name a few.
Jerry loved gardening. She would grow and tend to tomatoes, peppers, beautiful roses, and other flowers - all a
reflection of God’s fragile treasures presented to us on our earthly voyage. She also loved her beagle, Haley (who
passed before her) with her whole heart.
Her nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbors will immensely miss Jerry. Her life is a testimony to the goodness we all
should aspire to. Jerry touched many people with her wisdom, generosity and perspective on a myriad of topics.
Due to Covid-19, a private gathering was attended by close family. For those wishing to honor Jerry, please consider a
donation to a local/worthy organization in her name.
