Elroy (Roy, Uncle Elly) Erdman, age 85, from Orland Park, Illinois, formally from Chicago, IL, passed away on March 27, 2024, at Sunny Hill Nursing Home in Joliet, IL, under Hospice Care. He was born May 26, 1937, at Silver Cross Hospital to Roy and Elosie (nee Balaz) Erdmann. U.S. Air Force Veteran.
Elroy graduated from Lincoln-Way High School in 1954, the first class to graduate from Lincoln-Way High School. He joined the United States Air Force and served for two years. Elroy married Blanche (Nee Tobbe) on July 26, 1969. She preceded him in death in 2011. Elroy was also preceded in death by his parents, his sister, his brother, his nephew Curtis Logan, and his great-nephew Robert Dale Becker. He is survived by his sister Judy (Bob) Logan, nephew Tye (Daisy) Logan, niece Yvonne (Brian) Becker, many Great-nephews and nieces, and Tom and Linda Kois neighbors.
These friends have become family and many other friends from his different walks of life. Elroy was a lifetime member of the Amvets and served as President of Post 72 for many years. Elroy worked for and eventually became Half-owner of Allsteel Industrial Metal in Alsip, IL. He worked at Allsteel till he retired. Elroy and Blanche were avid Chicago Blackhawk Hockey fans. They had season tickets for Blackhawk games for over 30 years. They were members of the NHLBC (National Hockey League Booster Club) and traveled all over North America to watch hockey and attend NHLBC conventions. Uncle Elly will be missed so much because of his outgoing personality, generosity, and passionate love for his family and friends.
