Edward James Leech of New Lenox, IL, passed away on August 31, 2019, surrounded by his wife and children. Born in Ottawa, IL, on October 20, 1938, to Otis and Vilda (nee Roser) Leech. Happily married to Elizabeth (nee Sopko) for 59 years. Father of Mary, Cathy (the late Paul) St. Michel, Ellen (Brad) Mitchell, Julie (Dave) Smith, and Eddie (Lisa). Grandfather of Brian (Christen) St. Michel, Kevin St. Michel, Everett Mitchell, Nola Smith, Maleena Leech, and Artie Leech. Great-grandfather of Robbie St. Michel. Beloved by many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, brother Wayne, sister-in-law Cleo, and son-in-law Paul St. Michel. Caring brother of Doris (Richard) Gimbal and Mary (Sal) Migliore.
He raised five children - teaching by example how to live your love, how to be dependable, and how to be kind. He loved his God, his family, his country, and is deeply missed. Ed was an avid camper and loved to travel the United States. Favorite destinations included the Colorado Rockies and the Grand Canyon. He was a certified Professional Engineer whose career spanned several companies, retiring from Panduit Corporation in 2004. He proudly served in the New Lenox Auxiliary Police Force for several years in the 1970s. He enjoyed photography, ice cream, working on cars, and doing projects around the house.
