Edward Lauffer, 94, went to be with the Lord on November 18, 2013. Surviving is his wife of 68 years, June. Their daughters Susan, Bonita Fox (John) and Patricia Davies (Russell) and grandsons Brian Edward Fox (Stephanie) and Jason John Fox (Denise). Great grandfather of Collin Fox, Henry Fox and Vivienne Fox. Brother-in-law of Alma Lauffer and June Nagel. Fond uncle of many nieces and nephews. Proceeded in death by his parents, Elizabeth and Louis, his brothers Clarence and Wilbert, sisters Eleanor Bormet and Lucile Hansen. In 1943 Ed enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Force and completed officer's training. As First Lieutenant, he navigated World War II B-17's. On his 15th mission his plane was hit by Axis forces. He parachuted from the destroyed plane and was taken prisoner-of-war by German Nazis. His parents were notified he was missing-in-action. Their prayers were answered when Allied forces liberated Ed. Next, Ed and June owned Frankfort Hardware. After they moved to Texas, Ed owned and operated a Putt-Putt Golf. Ed was member of a square dancing club with June. He also enjoyed playing bridge. One personal accomplishment was skiing in Colorado with daughter Bonnie, son-in-law John, and grandsons. With June, Ed attended President Reagan's inaugural, including Rev. Billy Graham's service at National Cathedral and Kennedy Center Ball. Also attended launching of USS Reagan Aircraft Carrier with daughter, Susan, who served on White House.
