Dorothy C. Schaefer

December 31, 1926 — September 28, 2015

Dorothy Claire Schaefer, 88, passed away peacefully on September 28, 2015 at St. Nicholas Hospital in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. Dorothy leaves behind four loving children (Robert, Thomas, Carole, and Jacqueline), her brother James, eleven grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and six great grandchildren, whom affectionately called her Dot-Dot. Her first born son, William (1948 - 1994) preceded her in death. On October 6, 2015 she was interred at Holy Sepulchre Catholic Cemetery in Alsip, Illinois, along with the cremated remains of her husband Robert and son William.

Dorothy was born to Peter and Sarah (nee Smith) Miller in Chicago, Illinois on December 31, 1926. She attended St. Theodore Grade School and graduated from Loretto High School in 1945. She was married to Robert F. Schaefer (November, 1947) until his death in 2009.

Dorothy’s life was centered around her family of five children, her husband, and the Catholic church. She and Robert raised their family primarily in Matteson, and Homewood, Illinois. Later in life Dorothy and Robert lived in Lakeside, Michigan and Tallahassee, Florida. In 2006 they moved to Sheboygan, Wisconsin.

Dorothy will be remembered for her unconditional love and forgiveness toward all. Above all, she cherished her family. She was especially close to her sister Margaret, brother James, and cousin Sr. Caroline Miller, OP.
