Deborah Lynn (Carpenter) Harvey, 49, of Mokena, IL, passed away on Thursday, December 21, 2017, at home after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Charleston, WV, she was the daughter of the late William and Donna Carpenter of Morris, IL. She was educated in the schools of Morris, IL and graduated from Morris High School in 1986. She continued her education at Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville where she attained her nursing degree in 1990.
Debbie was a good-hearted person, loved helping other people and was a friend to many. She married Mark Harvey on June 22, 2002. They have two children, Calista and Matt, and three dogs, Danny, Maggie, and Molly. Mark and Debbie enjoyed living in downtown Chicago but traded the city-life for the more relaxed family life in Mokena in 2004. Her family was her priority and she was an amazing mother and wife. She loved to travel and we had many great vacations that will provide memories for a lifetime.
She was very involved in the local community and was the co-leader of Mokena Girl Scouts Troop 980. She was a mentor to many young women and other leaders in Girl Scouts.
Survivors include her husband and children, her two sisters Pamela (Randy) Finn and Jennifer (Paul) Webber of Morris, IL, seven nieces and nephews (Chelsea Finn, Reilly Finn, Hali Finn, Christian Finn, Keegan Webber, Colin Webber and Nicholas Webber), her grandmother Edith Williams of Morris, IL and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 26th from 3pm-9pm at the Vandenberg Funeral Home, 19604 Wolf Road, Mokena, IL 60448.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 27th at 11am at the United Methodist Church of New Lenox, 339 W. Haven Road, New Lenox, IL 60451.
Private graveside services will be held at a later date
Memorials may be made in Deborah’s name to the United Methodist Church of New Lenox or to Joliet Community Area Hospice.
