David A. "Dave" Benedetto

October 2, 1966 — May 16, 2020

David A. "Dave" Benedetto, 53, passed away in his home surrounded by family on May 16, 2020. He fought a hard 7 month battle with pancreatic cancer before God called him home. David is survived by his wife Julie of 27 years, son David, daughter Kristie, father John (Carla), brothers John (Colleen), Scott (Kris), Jeff, sister Tricia (Matt), and many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother Patricia. David was a loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend to all.

David worked hard as a Local 134 electrician for 30+ years until he was forced to stop due to his illness. He enjoyed to work on projects and reward himself with some beers when finished. “Work first, play later,” he would always say. He loved to ride his motorcycle around town and to head to his happy place, the lake, every weekend in the summer.

David was loved by all. He was the “connector” for many friend groups and had a smile that could light up any room. He was devoted to everyone in his life and made everyone feel so special. David has always been and will always be described as the life of the party - A truly amazing, one-of-a-kind, happy, fun-loving guy.

Due to Covid-19 the visitation at Vandenberg Funeral Home in Tinley Park, IL. and burial at First Lutheran Cemetery in Alsip, IL., on Friday May 22, will be private. When restrictions are lifted, the funeral home will host a celebration of David’s life. Details to follow.

We are asking that any memorial donations be given to David’s goddaughter Nicole who is also battling cancer. See link for details. https://www.gofundme.com/f/bent-but-never-broken-nicole039s-cancer-journey?utm_source=customer&utm_medium=copy_link-tip&utm_campaign=p_cp+share-sheet
