Darlene E. Waitekus

Darlene E. Waitekus, beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 2nd, 2023. Born on October 26th, 1937, in Chicago, Illinois to the late Robert Lill and Eileen Doyle. Darlene, known for her dry wit and boundless love, affection, and devotion to her children, leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness that will be cherished by all who knew her.

Darlene spent decades working diligently as a workmen's compensation claims adjuster. In her leisure time, she was an avid reader who often read in excess of two books a week. In years past, Darlene enjoyed playing Bunco with her friends, traveling, and spending time with her grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Darlene's final days were spent with her close relatives at her side as she entered eternal rest.

Beloved mother to Stephen (Debbie) Waitekus, Keith (Celeste) Waitekus, Suzanne (Michael) Cox, the late Russell Waitekus and Cara Castelli. Loving sister to the late Robert (Joanne) Lill, the late Joyce (Wayne) Ishler, Kenneth (Joan) Lill, Carol (Michael) Mitchell and stepbrother John. Cherished grandmother to Robert (Selena) Waitekus, Nicholas Tatgenhorst, Shannon Fortner, Daniel (Michelle) Cox, Katelyn Waitekus and William Cox, along with seven great grandchildren. Caring aunt and great aunt to many nieces and nephews.

Visitation Tuesday October 10, 2023, from 9:00 AM until the time of funeral service at 11:30 AM at Vandenberg Funeral Home 17248 Harlem Ave, Tinley Park, IL. Interment Good Shepherd Cemetery.
