Carole M. VanderWeyden (Maxheim) age 84, of St. Charles, Formerly of Park Forest, died peacefully on Monday, January 16, 2017 at Bickford of Tinley Park. She was born May 25, 1932 in Clinton, Iowa to Vincent J. and Dorothy H, Maxheim. She was the beloved wife, of the late George VanderWeyden, Jr. Carole was a graduate of Clinton High School, class of 1949. She received her teaching certificate from University of Northern Iowa in 1952. Shortly after she met her husband, George, a teacher at Mt. Vernon High School and they were married on June 7, 1953. After moving to Park Forest in 1952 she became a 3rd grade teacher in the South Suburbs and continued teaching until 1955 when she stayed at home to raise her children. She continued to substitute in District 227 until 1983 when George retired from Homewood Flossmoor. After retirement they moved to St. Charles where they enjoyed golf, traveling, and spending time with their children and grandchildren. Carole is survived by 3 children, Pam VanderWeyden of Palos Park, Kris (James) Sesterhenn of Frankfort, Kathy Lawson of Sleepy Hollow, five grandchildren, Derek Hunt, Kelly and Dan Linde, Drew and Kendall Lawson and brother, John H. (Elenor) Maxheim of Longboat Key, Fla. She was preceded in death by her husband, George and son, Dan. Funeral Thursday January 19, 2017 12:00 PM at the Vandenberg Funeral Home 17248 S. Harlem Ave. Tinley Park, IL. 60477. Interment is Private. In lieu of flowers donations to American Lung Association
