Carol M. Vander Sanden

Carol M. (nee Siemsen) Vander Sanden, age 82, lifelong resident of Tinley Park, IL, passed away early Sunday morning, July 17, 2022 at home surrounded by her family. She is now at peace after three years of courageously living with cancer.

Carol was born on August 21, 1939 to Earl and Helen Siemsen. She was a proud graduate of St. Xavier’s College, earning her nursing degree in 1961. She was also a devoted and active member of St. George Catholic Church and especially enjoyed her involvement with the Carmelite Society. Service to others was a pillar of Carol’s life and she devoted her time to her family, her parish and her community.

Carol is survived by her husband of fifty-nine years, Tom, 6 children - Scott, Ellen (Ravi), Cheryl (John), Jean, Karen (Sam), and Steven (Meaghan), and 11 grandchildren - Erik, Melissa, Emily, Maya, Ian, Taylor, James, Grace, Elliot, Alia, and Jacob, and her sisters Jean Hespen and LaVerne (Bill) Duncan.

Lying in State, Friday, July 22, 2022, at 9:00 a.m. until time of Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. at St. George Church, 6707 175th St. Tiney Park, IL 60477. Burial, Good Shepherd Cemetery. Visitation, Thursday, July 21, 2022, from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Vandenberg Funeral Home, 17248 S Harlem Ave, Tinley Park, IL 60477.
