Bridget J. Dougal

May 12, 1954 — December 29, 2022

Bridget J. Dougal (Page) loved God deeply and was called home to him on Thursday, December 29, 2022. She is now serving the Lord as His angel. Bridget suffered from rheumatoid arthritis for over forty years. This disease started to progress rapidly in the last two years with no possible relief. This was very depressing for her, but her faith was strong and her love for God was her comfort and knowing that He loved her. Bridget was quick to offer up her pain and suffering for all dealing with difficult times in their lives. Even through her suffering she was always mindful of the suffering of others. She felt her suffering was mild compared to what Jesus suffered and that His suffering was followed by glory and peace. Through all her trials she remained a most loving and giving person. She is now at peace with her God and free from all pain.
Born May, 12, 1954 in Chicago, Illinois, Bridget daughter of the late Roger Dougal and Florence Perlman-Dougal nee Sczupak. She was the 4th of 5 children, the late Patrick Dougal, Michael McDougal, Timothy Dougal and Blanche Dougal Kane. At a very early age, Bridget found God and led to a deep devotion and love for Him. Her life centered around her immense faith and prayed often for a more God-loving world.
Bridget graduated from Sullivan High School in 1972. Her work career included work as a teller at Bank of Homewood. From there she became a legal secretary at Spitzer and Addis & Sussman and later at Burditt and Radzius before health began to take its toll. Bridget was blessed with musical talent, playing the guitar, and singing at coffee houses in Chicago. Later she expanded that talent learning the harp, playing beautifully at Church. When her sister Blanche starting teaching at an inner-city school with a small class of troubled children, Bridget visited the class brought her harp, played for them and let them play a simple song on the harp.
Bridget had many things that made her happy. Her greatest joy was her family and her greatest love, her husband, Robert (Bob) Page of over 28 years. Her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were so precious to her. Their visits gave her much joy and they could do no wrong. A true grandmother. Family was so important to her, and she always wanted things to be “right” in family relationships. Bridget loved animals and had two joys in her life. Miss Lemon, her first, who left us in 2018 followed by Poncho, both a Shih Tzu breed who were smothered with her love and affection. Both were bossy and stubborn pets, but Bridget handled them with ease. Two other things brought her immense joy. One was being a Professed Lay Carmelite. She was Professed a Lay Carmelite on July 11,2010 and was a member of the Little Flower Community since 2004. The fellowship of that community was a source of strength for her, for it had some many faith-filled people and ones who were fond of her and supportive. For several years she sang in the St. Stephen, Deacon and Martyr Church Choir in Tinley Park, IL. It was a chance to use her vocal talent and be around a wonder group of people.
Church and her faith were the center of her life. She did enjoy reading and travel. Her reading included a wide array of subjects, but most were connected to her faith. Travel was another source of happiness. We reminisced often of our several trips to Disney World (we were children at heart), as well to a few other destinations.
Bridget is survived by two children, Erin Cipriani (Adam) and David Narter (Julie) and a stepdaughter, Bonnylen Page Catlett (Brian). She is the cherished grandmother of Courtney Collier (Heath), Sam Cipriani, Abby Cipriani, Charlie Cipriani, Addison Narter-Slezak, Jared Narter-Slezak, B.J. Catlett, and Bryson Catlett. Bridget is the most precious great grandmother of Zadok Collier, Selah Collier, Elise Collier, and Abel Collier. She was a loving cousin and cherished aunt to many nieces and nephews.
We are deeply honored to be Bridget’s family and will miss her deeply. She has left a void that will never be filled. The pain for us is real, but faith tells us Bridget is home with our God, free from pain and at peace. She now among the angels. An angel she was while with us on earth. If you are reading this Bridget must have touched you in some way. Her prayer for us is and we can be confident- “love one another, be good to one another, pray often for one another, and love Almighty God with all your heart, soul and being.”
