Anthony Michael Barczak, better known as Mike, Dad, Uncle Mickey, and Grandpa Barczak, lived a life of faith, joy, and service. Mike, age 95, passed from this earth at his home in Mokena on January 13, 2022. Mike was preceded in death by his loving wife Dorothy (Kaminski), his father Anthony, his mother Martha (Kunka), his brothers Johnny and Larry and his sister Bernice (Hancock). Born in 1926 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Mike went on to serve his country as a naval aviator in World War II. He married the love of his life, Dorothy, in 1954 with whom he had four children: Daughter Carolyn (Zagielski), and sons Mick (Cindy), Mark (Andrea), and Ted (Sharon). He enjoyed his career as a draftsman at Argonne National Lab where he worked for 30 years. Mike actively contributed to St. George Church in Tinley Park and the Knights of Columbus, eventually serving as Grand Knight. As a man of faith and prayer, he made his parish the center of his and his family’s life, never hesitating to assume leadership roles in the community. In his golden years, Mike took great joy in golf, travel, and volunteering at Oak Forest Hospital. He had nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren. We will remember Mike for his generous spirit, his outgoing personality, his living witness to the faith, and, of course, his million-dollar smile.
