Andrew “Andy” Richard Mikal, 34 years old, passed away from stage 4 colorectal cancer Wednesday, September 13th with his wife by his side. Though his time with us here was by far too short, that time was filled with many accomplishments, fun, laughter and laying the foundation of life for his son. His devotion of fatherhood towards his 10 1/2 month old son never ceased. He surrounded himself throughout his life by a community of friends and family who shared his passion of living each day to its fullest potential. Being a kind man with a heart full of love was only one of the remarkable qualities that defined him. Despite having cancer, he did not let the disease slow him down. A true warrior in everything he did, including his fight.
Andy attended grade school at Gunsaulus Academy, high school at St. Lawrence and graduated cum laude from Northern Illinois University with a degree in business management. As a true follower of his passion, he furthered his education at Siebel Institute, where he completed a certificate in brewing technology. This dream of brewing became a reality when he was hired by Rock Bottom Restaurant in Orland Park.
Andy is survived by his wife Meggan (La Giglia) and sweet baby Andrew Daniel. Is the loving son of Joanne (Bania) Mikal and Richard Mikal and son-in-law to Brian and Donna La Giglia. Grandson to Richard and Anne Mikal and Don Weatherford. Beloved brother to Devin and Nick, caring brother-in-law to Marcia and Berna Mikal; Katie and Matt Pridham, Daniel and Mally La Giglia, and Brian and Mallory La Giglia. Nephew to wonderful aunts and uncles. Loving uncle to many nieces and nephews.
