Alvin Herman Meyer age 84 late of Mokena, IL passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 7, 2018. Beloved husband of Virginia nee Walt for 55 years. Loving father of Kathryn (William) Wereldsma, Thomas (Kathleen), Cheryl (Jeffrey) Schwartz, Karen (Joseph) Carr, Deanna (Sean) Winchell and Robert (Deborah) Meyer. Proud grandfather of Matthew, Thomas, Megan, Mayson, Olivia, Alayna, Elizabeth, Finn and baby Winchell. Caring brother of Harvey (Annette) Meyer, Marilyn (Leo) Holl, Ken (Rita) Meyer, Linda (Gary) Knox. Fond brother in law and uncle of many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents Herman and Edwina (nee Marthaler) Meyer; Father and Mother in law Anthony and Eleanor (nee Neu) Walt. Funeral Thursday, January 11, 2018 9:30 AM from the Vandenberg Funeral Home 19604 S. Wolf Road Mokena, IL 60448 to St. Mary Church Mass 10:00 AM. Interment in St. Mary Cemetery Mokena, IL. Alvin was a proud alumnus of Albany High School and St. John’s University(MN). He worked for Kmart/S.S. Kresge Corporation from 1957-1996. Alvin was a proud Army veteran.
