Roderick Frank Nagy, 81, of Mokena, passed away at home surrounded by his family. Born in Detroit, Michigan, the son of the late Spc.John Nagy and the late Berniece Nagy (Pruden). His father was killed in the 2nd World War when Rod was 6 years old. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Naomi Nagy née Schriefer, 2 sons James (Patricia) Nagy, and William M Nagy, 6 grandchildren, John Stachniak, Kenneth (Ashley) Stachniak, Jason (Kristine) Nagy, Jeremy (Samantha) Nagy, Brittany Hall, William T. Nagy, and 10 great grandchildren.
He graduated from Detroit Lutheran High School. Rod went to Valparaiso University where he met his wife. They were married 2 years later and settled in Mokena. He became an electrician for IBEW 134 and retired in 2003.
He was trustee at Immanuel Lutheran Church, member of The Pilgrams Men’s Organization and has enjoyed ballroom dancing for many years.
Funeral services for Mr. Nagy will be held in private at Immanuel Lutheran Church due to the COVID-19 global pandemic. The interment will be in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery Frankfort, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials and donations to Immanuel Lutheran Church Mokena.
